Another marvelous Canon prime lens (2008-04-23)
As much as I love the 50mm f/1.4 lens there were times when it just was not wide enough. So I started an detailed search to find, for me, the perfect wide angle fixed focus lens.
As this lens will not get used a whole lot I immediately eliminated the ‘L’ lenses as too costly for the return. I was looking for something in the 20-30mm range. It needed to be a USM as non-USM lenses make too much noise while focusing and this lens will be used at plays & concerts. (I have the 35mm f/2 and it is way too noisy to use at these events.)
To make a long story short I selected the 28mm f/1.8 USM. This lens approaches the ’standard’ 50mm lens length that shoots pretty much what you see with your eye. It excells in dimly lit interiors, such as auditoriums, for instance. Use it wide open with confidence, but focus carefully - DOF is narrow even with a 28 at 1.8.
Pros: Lightweight, Consistent Output, Strong Construction, Rugged, Easily Interchangeable, Durable, Sharp Focus, Wide Aperture
Cons: my only complaint is the same as with all non L lenses, that I have to pay extra for the hood.
Canon EF 28mm f/1.8 USM Wide Angle Lens for Canon SLR CamerasNot all that impressed… (2008-04-21)
So, I couldn’t wait to get this lens. I finally bought it, and was so excited to put it to use. I quickly found that the focus at 1.8 is very soft.
In my opinion, the value just isn’t there. I mean if your paying double the price of the 28 2.8, you’d think it would keep sharp focus at the 1.8 setting, but it didn’t. I’m just gonna buy the 2.8(which ive rented in the past, and loved) and be happy with my purchase.
Needless to say I returned the lens a couple days laterGood Lens (2008-04-07)
I tried this lens on a Canon 5D and while the images had great color and resolution, there were soft areas at the sides. I suspect this lens is much better on a camera that is not a full frame sensor. The No-Flash Answer To Everything (2008-02-09)
I’ve owned this lens for just over a year now, and it’s on my camera almost all the time - despite the fact that I’ve bought two other lenses.
I’m a fan of shooting candid shots, mostly indoors, and flash is just NOT an option if you really want great pics that don’t interfere with (or annoy) your subjects. I came to this lens because the EF50mm f/1.8 was just a bit *too* tight/long for candid pics without stepping back all the time, or settling for face shots only. This 28mm approaches the ’standard’ 50mm lens length that shoots pretty much what you see with your eye.
I thought the lens was a bit soft at first, but over time, I’ve gotten to know it inside and out, and my photos are close to tack-sharp most of the time - even though I rarely shoot above f/2.5 with this. I’ll take shooting with this at f/1.8 or f/2.0 over a lens with image stabilization any time. And of course, being a prime (non-zoom) lens means that your pictures are going to be sharper than a zoom lens with IS anyways.
This is a lens that will spoil you forever. You’ll be able to capture photos in virtually any lighting conditions. I love shooting with it, and ISO 1600 shots at f/2.0 are just spectacular - exactly what I need for shooting in *extremely* low light. With a bit of post-processing, I’m making incredible photos that were simply not possible in the days before digital.
Build quality is excellent, and the USM auto-focus does a great job in bright-light and low-light situations with ease, silently.
If you want sharp low-light photos in a compact and lightweight lens, this is your saviour.
Defective right out of the box!!! (2007-12-28)
The focusing mechanism is not functioning right out of the box. When the focusing ring is moved by hand nothing is happening (no internal elements are moving). When the camera is attempting to auto-focus, the lens produces two slight thumps with the same negative result. This says a lot about Canon’s quality control practices. I am socked. I have been using Canon products professionally for a long time now and I had never seen anything like that.
Needless to say that I wanted that lens for a New Year’s present and had paid for Next Day shipping.

spectacular action shots (2002-08-28)
Nothing but satisfaction and plenty of laughs in using this camera. It’s easy to load, shoot and rewind, and the best thing is the focus is razor-sharp. I took over 90 frames over a weekend trip in the islands, and even in the shade (under a tree), the supersampler (mine is the limited edition orange Starfish) grabbed all the tree-swinging shots with no blurred frames. Otherwise, it has great clarity in the bright sunshine. Tested it out with 100, 200 and 400 film. Clarity was best of course, with nice saturated colour at 400, but the 100 and 200 were nothing to sneeze at either.
Only gripe is my hands are not fast enough - the ripcord action can be a bit of a nuisance if you’ve lost a shot by forgetting to pull it again after a quick snap. The camera changed between four people, and with a variety of poses, heights, with and without the funky viewfinder, managed to capture moments on film that would otherwise have been lost to still, posed photos. Things like water splashing, jumping, swinging all captured very easily even without the viewfinder, and from the hip (or belly).the good and the bads (2002-05-15)
i recieved this camera as a gift and here are the ups and downs of it:
good:
takes great pictures
looks sleek
easy to rewind
fun to use
bad:
hard to use when first using
no real viewfinder (mine broke off)
feels like a kiddy camJunk (2002-04-09)
Might be worth [less money]. A toy at best. Paint chipped off almost immediately. You’ll go thru a lot of film trying to get this camera to work. Shabby craftsmanship.5 stars for fun but…. (2001-12-14)
This is a silly toy and will delight pros and amateurs and kids but…Be careful! These things are very fragile. Don’t expect it to last long. Speaking from years of experience with toy cameras, including this one, here’s a few tips.
Use 800 ASA. There’s no flash.
It works best in bright daylight with the 800 ASA.
Other film speeds work but the higher the speed, the more consistent your results will be.
It probably leaks light. Try one roll of 12 exposures to find out. If it leaks, tape it up with duct tape when you use it.
If it lasts a year, you’re lucky!
Have fun with it!Great Fun —-Read on, (2001-09-02)
I was a little reluctant in ordering this camera [...].
You must have some knowledge of basic camera operation, and this cute thing will be a real treat. Loading the film will be complicated for those who are not use to winding and catching manualy, if you take your time, go slow and you’ll get it. After two times its a piece of cake. The camera is design to capture movement, so if your pointing to somthing stationary you’ll get four shots(on one print) of the same thing, so use this for movement and you’ll be astonished. [....] I would not recommend this camera for those under 12, unless they are knowedgeable on the basics of how a camera works. Its not a toy. [....] A very creative concept, get it and have fun.

Galaxy DX-949 (2008-04-18)
Very good radio, heavy and large. The only thing I dont like about the radio is the GNF Galaxy Noise Filter it dont sound good unless you get a external speaker. I use it as a base radio. I had it in my truck got rave reviews on how strong it got out. I fell in love with it enough to bring it in as a base radio and take a cheaper base used radio out to my work truck. I was sort of concerned that somebody could try to steal it also. It’s not cheep but you will get what you pay for. If you want a radio that puts out monster audio this is the radio to have

Nice Pictures (2008-05-14)
I bought this camera becuase I was going on a cruise to Bermuda. Never owning a sony before I crossed my fingers. I am so happy with this camera. It took such beautiful clear shots, motion shots were fuzzy but for the most part every picture I took was more outstanding then the next one. Easy to use, I bought a 4gb memory card and had over 1000 pictures I could take. I took 400 pictures and I am happy with them. This is a good camera and a good buy. I am a sony customer for life.Excellent Camera (2008-05-07)
I bought this camera right before my senior prom, and it really came through on a day where I wanted to take a lot of pictures. The battery lasted all night (and I took 2gb worth of pictures). My friends have other cameras in the same price range, with the same or higher megapixels, but Sony cameras take superior pictures. They adjust to bright light or a dark room better. I keep the anti red eye flash turned on, so no photoshop is necessary later.
It’s also worth mentioning that the video and microphone on this camera aren’t bad. I’ve recorded a few concerts, where it’s dark and there’s a whole lot of background noise, and the videos turned out much clearer than I expected or hoped for.
Plus, the camera is my favorite color, matches my iPod, and I get frequent compliments on it.Great product!!! (2008-05-02)
This is simply a great point and shoot camera. I purchased this for my wife and she is very happy with it. The ease of use and the quality of picture are incomparable. Face detection technology and smile shutter are really wonderful but sincerely they are not very much useful. Overall I recommend this product to everyone who want a good point n shoot camera in low price.Very good camera..Sony is superb always (2008-04-29)
I am die hard fan of Sony camera ..This is the second camera from Sony and picture quality and camera looks adorable.
I am very much happy on this productperfect camera (2008-04-29)
Very good camera, elegant and easy for taking by its small size, it incorporates good functions, and great quality of image in the screen, the photos have good resolusion at night and also.

Great case (2007-04-15)
Very durable and tough. I have had my ipod for a year and this is the only case i have ever used on it.but it is kid of hard to get out of the case.Love Love LOVE This Toughskin (2007-03-12)
Super easy to put on. Looks very very cool, like a truck tire. Makes finding my iPod in my jumbly purse a breeze. I don’t use the belt clip and I don’t notice the hole in the back at all.
Very much worth the cost. Far superior to a leather case. Its ok but not made for a Itrip (2007-03-04)
I orginally had purchased this for road travel along with a Itrip.
Both Work great but i have to dislocate my ipod out of the case for my itrip to properly fit.
But other then that i had no real trouble taking my ipod in and out of the case.Speck ToughSkin for iPod Nano (2007-01-14)
The thick rubber cover was difficult to get installed evenly. Internal friction on the rubber wanted to prevent smooth alignment. I still can’t get the function wheel centered in the Speck cover. The display cover isn’t all that securely held, and I worry that it may fall out & get lost. The thickness of the rubber along the bottom prevents some headphones from fitting all the way into the Nano with the Speck cover on it. Although the thick rubber seemed like a good idea for preventing damage to my Nano, if I had to do it over again, I’d probably not have bought this.Nano Skin Review (2007-01-10)
This is an excellent product. I would highly recommended the product to protect your Nano.
